Founded in the year 2000, Shivalik Primary School Society, Gurdaspur is a progressive and visionary educational organization established with the aim of uplifting rural and economically underprivileged communities through education. The society was formed and registered by a group of dedicated educationists and social reformers under the inspiring leadership of Dr. Satwinder Singh Sandhu. With a strong belief that education is the most powerful tool for social transformation, the society took its first major step by launching Shivalik School, focused on providing affordable and quality primary education in rural areas.
The overwhelming response from the community and the rapid increase in student enrollment—reaching over 1,000 students within just two years—affirmed the dire need for such an initiative. This success encouraged the society to expand further and broaden its impact in the field of education, professional training, and skill development.
Over the years, Shivalik Primary School Society has grown into a multi-disciplinary educational hub, managing a network of institutions that range from pre-primary schools to degree colleges, vocational training centers, teacher education programs, and technical institutes. Our institutions are designed to deliver value-based, practical, and globally relevant education that equips students with knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed in life.

Over the past two decades, Shivalik Primary School Society has taken bold steps to meet the growing educational needs of the region. Here is a timeline of our major milestones:
2000 – Establishment and registration of Shivalik Primary School Society, launching its first venture, Shivalik School, to offer basic education in rural Gurdaspur under the guidance of Dr. Satwinder Singh Sandhu.
2002 – Achieved a remarkable milestone by enrolling over 1,000 students within two years, reflecting strong public support and growing trust in our educational model.
2005–06 – In response to the increasing need for trained educators, the society established a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) College, preparing future teachers to serve in government and private institutions across Punjab.
2006–07 – Launched Elementary Teacher Training (ETT) courses to strengthen foundational teaching capacity in rural primary schools.
2008–09 – Established Shivalik Industrial Training Institute (ITI) to offer hands-on vocational training in trades like electrician, fitter, and computer operator, thereby creating pathways for employment among rural youth.
2012 – Opened Shivalik Degree College, offering undergraduate programs in arts, commerce, and science streams, enabling local students to pursue higher education without relocating to cities.
2020 – Launched Shivalik International School, introducing modern pedagogy, smart classrooms, and global standards to provide a world-class education experience in a rural setting.
2024 – Initiated free education and skill development courses under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) to economically weaker students, helping them acquire job-ready skills.
2025 – Inaugurated Shivalik Technical Institute, affiliated with Punjab Technical University (PTU), providing cutting-edge diploma and degree programs in engineering and technology.
2025 – Rolled out free Vishwakarma Yojana skill training programs to impart practical trade-based education such as carpentry, welding, tailoring, and electrical work, promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship.
2025 – Partnered with Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) to launch Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programs, providing flexible higher education opportunities for working individuals, housewives, and dropouts.
